(This activity must be run by a qualified Alpine Ash staff
member and an additional fee applies) |
 |
The
Possum Glider is an exciting and thrilling activity that is
designed to push the participant out of their comfort zone as
they swing to approximately 14m above the ground and also
encourage the development of key life skills such as teamwork, communication and
leadership among the rest of the group. |
|
Low Ropes Course |
The Low Ropes Course consists of 4 different
elements: Postman's Walk, Parallels, Heebie Jeebie
and
Multi Vine.
This can be run as one continuous challenge or as
four separate
challenges. |
|
|
| Mohawk Walk |
 |
The Mohawk Walk consists of five sections
of tautly strung cable, with each successive section longer than
the one prior.
The challenge is for the whole group to traverse the entire
length of the series of cables without falling or stepping off.
This activity is also
designed to encourage the development of key life skills such as teamwork, communication and
leadership among the group. |
|
|
Nitro Crossing |
A spliced loop rope swing is
suspended from a cable between a small platform and the starting
point.
The basic problem is to obtain the rope using only the resources
found within the group and then get the whole group across the
area between the starting point and the platform, without
touching the ground, and onto the platform.
There are different variations to this activity that can be
implemented depending on the group requirements. |
|
|
Obstacle Course |
|
|
The Obstacle Course consists of 11
separate obstacles of varying difficulty.
Participants can be timed as they make their way around the
course, then aim to beat their time on their second attempt. |
|
Spider's Web |
|
The Spider's Web
consists of a prefabricated web strung between two posts 3-4
metres apart made up of 10-15 open web sections.
The task is to pass each member of the group through a separate
web opening without letting any part of their body touch the
web. Once a member uses an opening, that section is closed
to further passage. If a participant touches the web
during the process, the person being passed must return to the
beginning side and the section they went through remains closed.
This is another activity
specifically
designed to encourage the development of key life skills such as teamwork, communication and
leadership among the group. |
| Tension Traverse |
A single cable is strung tautly between a
tree and a support post.
A long rope is attached to a point at a height above the start
of the foot cable to provide a tensioned support to use while
the participant traverses the foot cable.
The aim is to traverse as far along the taut foot cable as
possible without falling off.
Spotters are encouraged to stand either side of the
participant for safety support. |
|
|
Wild Woosey |
|
Two tautly
strung cables, close to the ground and starting at the same
point, progress outwards to end points approximately 3-4 metres
apart.
Two participants (one per cable) walk the diverging cables,
while maintaining physical contact, to a point where they can no
longer
continue or they reach the support posts. |
